Providing Handyman Repairs, Upgrades & Maintenance Services

General Handyman/Technician
Songster Handyman Services – Bend, OR

Songster Handyman Services is looking for an experienced, reliable, and motivated handyman/technician to join our team.

We perform a wide variety of residential and light commercial projects throughout Bend and Central Oregon, including home repairs, decks, siding, drywall, trim carpentry, painting, installations, punch lists, maintenance, rental turnovers, and small remodeling projects.

This is a hands-on field position for someone who is comfortable working independently, solving problems, following project instructions, and producing professional-quality work without constant supervision.

We are a small, locally owned company that values quality workmanship, reliability, professionalism, efficiency, and good communication. We are looking for someone who takes ownership of their work, shows up consistently, pays attention to details, and wants to be part of a dependable long-term team.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Perform general handyman, maintenance, and repair work
  • Complete drywall repairs, patching, texture matching, and painting
  • Perform trim carpentry, door adjustments, hardware installation, and punch-list repairs
  • Complete deck, siding, fencing, and other exterior repair projects
Perform residential and light commercial maintenance and improvement work
  • Diagnose problems and determine practical repair solutions in the field
  • Read and follow written job scopes, instructions, and project notes
  • Work independently and manage assigned tasks efficiently
  • Communicate professionally with customers and team members
  • Take clear before, during, and after project photos
  • Provide accurate jobsite updates through company apps
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe jobsites
  • Properly care for company vehicles, tools, equipment, and materials

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of professional handyman, remodeling, construction, or building maintenance experience preferred
  • Broad hands-on experience with carpentry, drywall, painting, installations, and general repairs
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to understand, retain, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work independently without constant supervision
  • Ability to produce clean, professional-quality finished work
  • Strong attention to detail and pride in workmanship
  • Dependable attendance and punctuality
  • Professional communication and customer-service skills
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Reliable transportation to and from work
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • Ability to safely lift and carry tools and materials and work in varying jobsite conditions
  • Comfortable using a smartphone and apps for scheduling, communication, photos, and project updates
  • Professional attitude and willingness to continue developing skills

Bonus Skills/Experience in any of the following is a plus:

  • Finish carpentry
  • Deck construction and repair
  • Siding installation and repair
  • Tile work
  • Cabinetry and built-ins
  • Door and window installation
  • Interior and exterior painting
  • Leading small projects or training less-experienced technicians

What We Offer:

  • Competitive hourly pay based on experience
  • Full-time, year-round work
  • Paid holidays
  • Paid time off eligibility
  • Health insurance benefits for eligible employees
  • Variety of projects instead of doing the same work every day
  • Small-team work environment
  • Opportunities for increased responsibility and growth
  • Company tools, equipment, and resources for completing projects
  • Supportive work environment focused on doing the job correctly rather than simply rushing to the next project

Who Will Be Successful Here:

The right person for this position is dependable, organized, resourceful, and easy to work with. You should be comfortable receiving a project scope, asking questions when necessary, and then taking ownership of getting the work completed correctly.

We are not looking for someone who needs to be continuously directed throughout the day. We need someone who can remember instructions, think through problems, communicate when something changes, and reliably follow through on assigned work.

If you take pride in your work, enjoy variety, and want to be part of building a strong local company and reputation in Central Oregon, we’d like to hear from you.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26-$35/hr, DOE
Schedule: Full-time, primarily Monday–Friday
Work Location: Bend, OR and surrounding Central Oregon communities
