THE POSITION OVERVIEW

The Sales Representative’s main functions are:

  • Supporting the Director of Sales, Foodservice, facilitating acquisition of large foodservice accounts.
  • Building direct relationships with new and existing foodservice & accounts, finding mutually profitable solutions that expand product placements serving the special diet market.

This is a salaried, full-time position that reports directly to the Directors of Sales, Foodservice, while also working closely with the entire Red Plate Foods team.

The job requires travel opportunities up to 50%, depending on time of year.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an energetic, personable Sales Representative who thrives on relationship building, communicates the company vision and market need, and works in partnership with existing and potential accounts to execute a program. You will also act in a support role for the Director of Sales, Foodservice, setting up tradeshow booths, packing & shipping samples, contacting accounts and calling or emailing prospect lists.

You must be available to work in person 5 days a week a minimum of 8 – 9 hours per day while not traveling. Tradeshows and client visits may require working on weekends, with travel comprising up to 50% of work days.

Red Plate Foods products are available in grocery stores and served by airlines, schools, resorts, healthcare facilities, and restaurants across the United States.

THE ROLE

  • Respond to and initiate emails and calls from foodservice accounts and distributors in a friendly, professional manner.
  • Identify and qualify high value leads.
  • Conduct brand presentations for qualified prospects, identify and overcome objections.
  • Manage full sales cycle from lead generation to close & nurture.
  • Perform general clerical duties on an as needed basis.
  • Organize Red Plate presence at and attend tradeshow and consumer events.
  • Provide regular contact with accounts and leads via email, phone, and virtual/in-person meetings
  • Cold call foodservice accounts.
  • Build and maintain prospect lists.
  • Occasionally roll up your sleeves and help the bakery production team get an order out the door.

A TYPICAL DAY MAY LOOK LIKE

  • Grab a cup of coffee and have a quick pow-wow with the Director of Sales on the day’s top priorities.
  • Review and respond to emails/voicemails/social media messages that came in overnight from distributors and foodservice accounts.
  • Virtual meeting with a foodservice account and their distribution rep to facilitate the stocking of a new item in their warehouse.
  • Discovery call with new prospect to learn their pain points, uncover and address potential objections, and communicate the value proposition of Red Plate Foods.
  • Contact prospects to receive feedback on samples sent out last week.
  • Work from a list of account prospects, calling 20-30 in a day making company introductions, learning about pain points, making suggestions, putting notes in a CRM and following up with emails and samples.
  • Organize a packing list, order samples and book travel for an upcoming tradeshow.
  • Call to confirm final booth details with show management.
  • Tailor a PowerPoint deck to a potential foodservice account with applicable products, features and benefits and call to action.
  • Close that big lead you have been working on all month!
  • Drive to the airport to catch a flight to California to support a new distribution partner by attending booked in-person meetings with high value prospects, meeting with sales teams at the distribution warehouse to conduct brand presentations and provide samples, and dropping in on smaller accounts during gaps in your meetings.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT FROM US

Quarterly goals are determined by you and your manager(s), broken down into weekly tasks and self-reported weekly and quarterly team meetings.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma plus five years’ sales experience -OR- advanced degree plus one year experience supporting sales or providing customer service in a small to medium sized business in an administrative professional role.
  • Driver’s license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to sit and stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to repeatedly lift 50 lbs and reach above your head (to assemble tradeshow booth components).
  • Significant travel commitments, as much as 50% of work days.
  • Must be available to attend all tradeshow and consumer events, which may include weekend and evening hours.
  • While not traveling, this is an in-person role Monday through Friday during regular business hours.

COMPENSATION

  • Base Pay: $47,000.00 – $50,000.00 per year
  • Bonus: Up to $3,000 per quarter when individual and team sales targets are met.
  • Paid Time Off: 10 days
