Lead Brewer

Website Crux Fermentation Project


As a Brewer/Cellar Lead, your primary role will be to lead brewing and cellaring operations on the floor to ensure Crux is producing the highest quality products from grain to glass. This is a hands on position that requires personal participation in all aspects of brewing and cellaring with secondary responsibilities in packaging and facility maintenance.

  • Proficient in all areas of brewing / cellaring / packaging / racking production.
  • Work closely with the brewing team to achieve desired quality and production targets.
  • Work side by side with the team on brewhouse operations, fermentation monitoring, yeast monitoring, OBeer data management, and tasks that ensure the highest standards of cleaning and sanitation.
  • Work closely with head brewer to manage inventory and raw materials.
  • Help maintain and manage the production schedule to hit targets and goals that are essential to the success of the company.
  • Work closely with brewing team to maintain, create, audit and implement Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Help train and develop the talent of the production team.
  • Support, coordinate duties, and help cover vacations of the AB-QA and the AB-Pub.
  • Participate in the transition of recipes from the AB-Pub to Crux 2 production facility.
  • Participate in Crux-themed promotions and educational beer events as needed.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Four-year College degree, preferably in Brewing/Fermentation science or Food Science
  • Experience in brewing operations or food manufacturing is a plus
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, mobile applications and technology


  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license in the State of Oregon, proof of insurance and a clean driving record
  • Tobacco and Drug Free
  • Reliable transportation for work
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including evening, weekends, and holidays


  • Must be able to perform simple grasping, fine manipulation, and repetitive hand and arm movements frequently
  • Must be able to bend, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and walk on uneven surfaces on an occasional basis
  • While primarily an indoor job, must be able to walk outside in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, heat)
  • Must be able to work in hot, cold, and wet environments
  • Must be able to climb stairs both inside and outside and frequently lift 50 lbs. and occasionally up to 60 lbs.
  • Must be able to use a ladder, i.e., work at heights of 10+’ above grade
