Innovative law firm in Bend, Oregon, is seeking paralegal/paralegal trainee. Our motto is “Excellence with Compassion When You Need It Most.” We do primarily estate planning and probate. Mentoring and training is available for the right candidate.
We are seeking a team player with experience working in a law office or exceptional transferable skills. Successful candidate will be highly motivated, diligent, and compassionate. We work in a fast-paced environment with sensitive situations. We need to be exceedingly confidential and supportive.
Successful candidate must be able to prioritize, listen quickly to oral and written instructions, maintain contact with clients, shift gears readily, be exceedingly confidential and remain calm when others are not. Successful candidate must also be able to take initiative with calendaring, acting on calendared deadlines to ensure timeliness, assist attorney in prioritizing review of drafts, and compile information from many different sources. Topnotch organizational skills are required.
This position includes a lot of direct client contact, working with the attorney as an integrated team, preparing for and assisting with client meetings, and drafting documents. Professional demeanor and business casual clothing are necessary. Enough life experience to be compassionate with people who are hurting is strongly preferred.

Tasks include:
- Drafting estate planning documents including trusts, wills, powers of attorney, advanced directives, transfer documents, and other supporting documents.
- Drafting probate documents, including petitions to initiate probate, limited judgments, inventories, accountings, among others.
- Drafting correspondence and proofreading various documents and correspondence for attorneys and other staff.
- Supporting attorney with various tasks as assigned.
- Case management.
- Calendaring timelines.
- Keeping client informed of deadlines.
- Ensuring deadlines are met.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- E-filing all required probate pleadings with the Court through the Odyssey e-filing system.
- Billing for tasks as performed.
