Position Summary:

The Custom Homes Sales & Estimation position is responsible for sales, estimation and new business development, as described below. Special projects may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Must have work experience in a similar position requiring a successful sales background with broad depth of residential construction knowledge and practices.
  • Prior experience using estimation and construction software tools. Should also have a good basic knowledge of computer applications and usage.
  • Must possess the sophistication, polish, and communication skills to be able to converse with a diverse base of clientele intelligently and confidently.
  • College degree in construction-related field preferred.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license and driving record that meet insurance requirements.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Requires competent knowledge of Oregon building codes and compliance.
  • Must have the skills and ability to interpret complex architectural plans, details and blueprints. Must be skilled in identifying errors and omissions in complex plans.
  • Must be able to perform and verify site stakeouts and understanding of setting grades and interpreting contours.
  • Business ability to oversee and analyze all jobs to achieve profitability targets and manage departmental overheads to acceptable margins.
  • Must have the skill to perform the mathematical functions necessary, to include material amount estimating, standards mathematics of volume, area, and use of standard non-metric measuring devices, and calculation of angles as they relate to carpentry, and be able to perform actual material take-offs from architectural blueprints.
  • Must be computer literate with Microsoft Office suite including Word and Excel and have experience with construction estimation and project tracking software.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are requiredwith a strong ability to follow up and document accordingly.
  • Must be able to work independently and be an effective decision maker, with the ability to prioritize and solve problems quickly and appropriately.
  • Must be well organized and an effective multi-tasker, to ensure that all aspects of the tasks assigned are completed on schedule.
  • Must have the technical “eye” to ensure every Sun Forest project meets the quality standards established by the company.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills to be able to deal effectively & professionally with clients, employees, sub-contractors, vendors, and others involved with business operations.
  • Must have high ethical standards & be able to uphold Sun Forest’s excellent reputation in the business community.
  • Must have the physical ability to meet the demands of the position, which include prolonged sitting and use of computer workstation, occasional bending, stooping, and kneeling to review project site conditions, frequent walking on uneven job site surfaces, frequent driving and visits to various offices and job sites. Will occasionally be exposed to severe weather conditions, occasional paint and lacquer fumes, construction dust and noise. New Home Estimation

The Estimator is responsible for interfacing with the Custom Home team, subcontractors and vendors to create cost estimates and accurate material take-off packages for new construction projects. This includes being familiar with plans and specifications, distributing a project scope of work for each trade and coordinating subcontractor walks at the jobsite. The Estimator will also assist with reviewing subcontractor and supplier estimates for accuracy, both of price and timeline.

Duties to include:

  • Work closely with the Custom Home design and project management teams to develop bid packets containing project specific scopes of work for each trade by gathering comparable and complete bids from subcontractors.
  • Assist with the review of plans and pricing information for accuracy. Track down any missing or incorrect information and maintain positive relationships with everyone involved with the estimating process.
  • Effectively and professionally communicate and follow through in a timely manner with clients, co-workers, subcontractors and vendors.
  • Achieve high client satisfaction ratings throughout sales and pre-construction processes.
  • Assist Project Managers to ensure that they are adhering to established budgets, schedules and quality standards for all projects.

Sales/Development

Create and implement sales plans to maintain and exceed existing revenue growth targets for all new construction projects. Communities include but are not limited to Brasada Ranch, Pronghorn, North Rim, Tetherow, Caldera Springs, Crosswater and Sunriver.

Duties to include:

  • Implement and develop new and current sales strategies.
  • Respond within a timely manner to new client inquiries.
  • Promote Sun Forest by networking within the local community.
  • Directly follow up on sales leads, develop client relations, and drive potential clients into design contracts and custom home opportunities.
  • Researchand acquire planned community and development new construction work.
  • Collaborate with Marketing Manager to evaluate and determine marketing needs.
  • Exhibits good judgement, high ethical standards, and competent decision-making skills at all times. Represents Sun Forest reputably with our clients, staff, suppliers, business associates and the community.
