Organization Overview
Stroke Awareness Oregon (SAO) is dedicated to mitigating the impact of stroke by reducing death and disability. We aim to empower stroke survivors and their families, providing the support and resources necessary for living their best lives.
Position Summary
SAO seeks a dynamic and experienced Executive Director to oversee the strategic and operational functions of the organization. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this leader will drive SAO’s mission through program development, organizational administration, financial oversight, and implementation of strategic initiatives.
The ideal candidate will be a skilled fundraiser, strategic communicator, and passionate advocate who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Develop and execute strategic plans aligned with SAO’s mission and goals
- Cultivate a high-performing, mission-driven culture that attracts and retains dedicated staff
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors, providing informed recommendations to guide decision-making and policy initiatives
- Oversee the delivery, evaluation, and improvement of SAO programs, ensuring operational excellence
- Recruit, mentor, and retain skilled staff and volunteers, fostering an inclusive environment strategies to amplify awareness and enhance the SAO brand
- Build and strengthen relationships with external partners, donors, and stakeholders to expand funding and opportunities
- Act as the public face of SAO, serving as a spokesperson and media liaison to advance the organization’s mission
Organization & Operations
- Oversee fiscal management, including budget development and cash flow monitoring, ensuring compliance with regulations
- Propose and implement policy and program updates to align with SAO’s evolving strategic direction
- Develop systems for tracking and reporting progress to stakeholders and the broader community
- Strengthen SAO’s volunteer network and enhance retention initiatives to maximize engagement
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a related field
- A minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector
- Proven success working with Boards of Directors and engaging diverse stakeholders
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit, with demonstrated experience in strategic planning and innovative thinking
- Transparent, high-integrity leadership style with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Proven accomplishments in fundraising, budgeting, grant writing, and resource management
- Proficiency in strategic planning, project management, and delegation
- Ability to motivate teams, engage diverse communities, and build relationships across varied audiences
- Valid Oregon driver’s license and proof of insurance
Compensation
This is a three-quarter time position with a competitive salary commensurate with experience. $52,000-60,000 annually.
