Starting the end of August, Skylark Children’s Academy is on the lookout for an enthusiastic and visionary Assistant Director to support our team and help lead our launch. Set within a custom-built, expansive 9,800 sq foot facility and a sprawling 12,000 sq foot play yard, Skylark will be a brand-new preschool on West-side Bend serving students ages 12 months through 5 years.

Pioneer Our Launch:

Join Skylark at an exciting phase as we prepare to open our doors this fall, becoming the largest preschool in Bend. As Assistant Director, you’ll play a pivotal role in executing the school’s vision, curriculum, classroom set up, and overall educational experience. Help set the stage for a positive and exciting learning environment for both students and families.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee development of teachers’ age-appropriate lesson plans. Design educational activities that promote children’s cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Spearhead the management of Skylark’s curriculum and conduct lesson plan reviews and classroom observations to ensure quality in classroom implementation
  • Act as a point of contact for staff and families, addressing questions and concerns, and proactively offering solutions to challenges
  • Jump in the classroom as needed, providing breaks to teachers or filling in for a teacher who is out
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity and respect by celebrating our staff and families and making everyone at Skylark feel welcome
  • Work with the Executive Director to meticulously maintain teacher and staff files, and diligently uphold all licensing requirements
  • Maintain a safe and hygienic school environment, adhering to health and safety regulations and implementing proper sanitation practices.
  • Serve as a positive role model for staff and families, demonstrating kindness, patience, and empathy in all interactions.

Ideal Qualifications:

  • 5+ years teaching in an early childhood education setting
  • Director qualified status in Oregon
  • Strong knowledge of early childhood education best practices
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Passion for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment for young children
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and a commitment to treating coworkers with respect and professionalism
  • Previous management experience preferred, but not required

Compensation:

Our competitive compensation package includes the following:

  • Pay range of $26 – $28 per hour
  • Up to two weeks paid vacation in addition to over five weeks of paid holidays
