Sisters Coffee Company is hiring for our two locations in Bend, OR. Along with our Old Mill location, Sisters is opening a cafe in the new Jackstraw building with an expanded pastry and food program. We are looking for enthusiastic and talented bakers to join our culinary crew. Our pastry program focuses on serving quality and convenient treats all day: muffins, scones, quickbreads, cookies, seasonal pastries, and more!
Candidates will demonstrate a passion for the delivery of consistently delicious and well-presented baked goods for our pastry case and menu. We have a special focus on hospitality and food quality in a team-driven, high-volume, and fast-paced cafe environment. The morning baker is responsible for working independently mixing doughs and batters, portioning and shaping, baking items, packaging, prepping items for the later crews, and keeping a clean and organized workspace in the kitchen.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bake pastries based on daily numbers, ensuring timely display in the cafe’s pastry case.
- Maintain and restock the pastry case throughout the morning.
- Prepare and maintain backstock of pastries based on par levels.
- Complete all daily baking checklists.
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness and adhere to all health code regulations.
- Demonstrate composure during peak periods, setting a positive example for staff and showing enthusiasm in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Collaborate closely with Baking, Kitchen and Bar staff to accomplish daily and weekly tasks.
- Maintain workstation organization, and assist in dishwashing and deep cleaning when required.
- Foster effective communication with your team regarding cafe operations, meetings, and events.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Able to work autonomously and alone for a portion of the shift.
- Able to work a morning schedule – weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Able to grasp, lift and carry up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Able to maneuver effectively around the kitchen, cafe, office, and up/down stairs and step ladders.
Requirements
- Familiarity with professional kitchen equipment, including mixers, blenders, and ovens.
- Proficient in reading and accurately following recipes.
- Understanding of food safety practices and regulations. Valid Oregon Food handlers card or ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.

Hours:
- Morning bake shifts: typically 6-8 hour shifts starting at 4:30am
- Prep shifts (during busy season): start time between 11am – 1pm and ending around 6pm
- Part time 22-28 hours per week
- Pay: $21-26/hour ($16/hour + $5-10/hour tips)
