Job Description

Peterson Trucks has the immediate need for a Product Support Sales Representative based in the Redmond, OR area.

SUMMARY

The Product Support Sales Representative (PSSR), Trucks promotes and sells company parts and service capabilities in an assigned territory. Working under occasional supervision, performs a variety of duties relevant to developing, promoting and selling Caterpillar parts and Company service capabilities. Communicates with all levels throughout the organization, and vendors and customers. Maintains close liaison with customers and works to develop new business. This position requires the PSSR, Trucks to be away from the employer’s place of business more than 50% of the time interacting with customers at their locations and/or job sites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Generate and develop new business to meet specified business goals. Plan sales calls itinerary.
  • Make sales calls on existing and prospective customers in a professional manner. Maintains and nurtures new and existing customer relationships through frequent customer contact.  Follow up on sales calls as needed to ensure completed job and customer satisfaction; intercede to solve problems and disputes.
  • Promote and sell parts and company service capabilities; inspect product; prepare and present sales proposal and service estimates; develop and present annual maintenance contracts.
  • Cooperate and communicate with sales, service and parts personnel; understand and communicate information regarding company products, services, and policies and procedures to new and existing customers.
  • Ensure that all required customer paperwork is complete, accurate, and submitted on time; manage and update customer equipment lists annually.
  • Possess and maintain thorough knowledge of product materials and literature to support promotional efforts. Participate in all available training.
  • Continually gather information on local competition and prevalent industry and business climate within the region; communicate information to management and others as needed.
  • Attend and participate in team strategic sales meetings.
  • Attend and participate in business/trade events that impact business unit.
  • Must be available for customer calls after hours and during weekends in emergency situations.
  • Generate and submit monthly reports as required.
  • Operate company or personal vehicle as needed.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Control cost and reduce expenses; contribute to and encourage the submission of cost improvements.
  • Maintain membership and participation in trade organizations pertinent to market and customer base.
  • Ensure assigned company vehicle maintains a clean professional appearance and is in proper working order.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Displays excellent communication skills including presentation, persuasion, and negotiation skills required in working with customers/ coworkers, including the ability to communicate effectively and remain calm and courteous under pressure.
  • Respectfully takes direction from supervisor/manager.

JOB SCOPE

This position serves in the capacity of the PSSR, Trucks. General discretion and judgement are exercised routinely in the execution of job duties. If errors in judgement or professional execution of responsibilities are made, the consequences to the to the department can be serious.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associates Degree from a fully accredited college; and a minimum of 3 years of directly related experience, preferably in trucking industry; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

Must have a good working knowledge of the company product line, the territory it serves and relevant competition.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
