Summary of Duties
The duties of this position are split between Family Time Coordinator (50%) and Case Aide (50%) responsibilities.
Family Time Coordinator duties include:
- Assist in the reunification of families by coordinating family time.
- Review your calendar to determine the needs for the day including planning for travel time between transports and planning for family time.
- Gather and document information from the caseworker, children, parents, relatives, schools and other resources to plan family time visits.
- Supervise family time between children, parents and family members in an office or community setting.
- Observe family time and take case notes.
- Transport children to family time visits, medical appointments, social services or other agency related appointments.
Case Aide duties include:
- Work across all child welfare program areas as a member of the service delivery team.
- Provide administrative support to case carrying social service specialists.
- Coordinate and perform duties such as documentation, data entry and contacting service providers.
- Support the engagement of children in need of placement.
- Engage with families to improve the outcomes and timeliness of cases.
- Contribute to risk and safety assessments and the associated decisions and plans.
- Support the caseworker in tasks related to assessment and case planning activities.
Minimum Qualifications
- One year experience assisting professionals in one or more specialized social programs such as family services, children services, senior services, mental or developmental disability services, substance abuse programs, juvenile corrections programs, or occupational skills programs
OR
- Possession of a current certification in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Addiction Counseling Preparation, or Juvenile Corrections.
OR
- 45 quarter hours, or 30 semester hours of college course work in sociology, psychology, early childhood education, criminal justice, human services, juvenile corrections, or occupational skills training.
OR
- An Associate’s degree in a field not closely related to Social Work/Human Services and six months of human services related experience (i.e., work providing assistance to individuals and groups with issues such as economically disadvantaged, employment, abuse and neglect, substance abuse, aging, mental or physical disabilities, juvenile prevention, health, cultural competencies, and/or inadequate housing).

- Experience using time management, organization and prioritization to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with at risk youth or diverse communities.
- Experience working independently to proactively identify and solve problems.
- Experience with de-escalation, conflict, and behavioral management with basic knowledge of trauma-informed practice.

Working Conditions
- Your work will be conducted in the local ODHS Bend office and the community.
- Your work schedule will be Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST).
- You will work a professional work week where the hours of work fluctuate on a daily and weekly basis to meet service needs. Occasional compensated overtime may be required to support caseworkers in meeting business needs.
- You will have some local travel. On rare occasions, travel may be hours away. The purpose of travel will be to support casework and occasionally transport children.
- This work requires a valid Driver’s license and the ability to drive during your scheduled work hours. Some driving may include driving in all weather conditions. (I.e. Snow, ice, rain).
- You will be required to install car seats of all types appropriately in a vehicle in accordance with state law, lifting children and placing children into car seats, lifting children, and taking them out of car seats and/or carrying them to place them into a vehicle or carrying them from a parking lot to a family time location. You will need to be able to lift up to 50 lbs. in this position.
- You will interact with and care for medically fragile children, children with developmental delays, and children with special needs.
- You will interact with a wide range of people including some who have experienced trauma and may exhibit challenges in controlling their emotions and words.
- You may encounter stressful situations that require quick decision-making to ensure safety of yourself and others.
Background Checks and Requirements
- A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
