Location: Redmond

Duration of position: Through September 12th, 2024

Compensation: $22.66-28.26/hour- Depending on education level (plus .50 if Bilingual Spanish/English)

Hours: This position has planned 40 hours/week, subject to normal school year furloughs (furloughs are approximately a total of 6 weeks per year)

NeighborImpact’s Head Start program Overview

The Head Start/Early Head Start program strengthens families and closes the achievement gap for over 500 of Central Oregon’s most vulnerable and at-risk children aged 0-5 and pregnant mothers. Head Start/Early Head Start integrates high-quality early education and family engagement with other critical services.


Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The purpose of Early Head Start home-based program is to encourage and support parents as their child’s primary teacher and nurturer. This position will provide early, continuous, intensive, and comprehensive child development and family support services to eligible pregnant women, infants, and toddlers to promote secure parent-child relationships and help parents provide high-quality early learning experiences.

This role involves crafting, organizing, and documenting suitable educational activities tailored to children’s developmental stages. It includes conducting weekly 90-minute home visits to monitor and achieve family objectives. Additionally, the job entails working with colleagues to coordinate bi-monthly gatherings for families. Candidates must possess outstanding communication abilities, adaptability, and experience in engaging with diverse, frequently underserved communities. This multifaceted position integrates educational, social, and community involvement elements to support positive family environments and child growth.



·         Minimum Education Requirements: current Home-Based Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) or comparable credential or equivalent coursework as part of an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.  In addition, one-year relevant experience providing social services, promoting healthy growth and appropriate child development with infants and toddlers

·         Bilingual English/Spanish highly preferred

·         Availability to work some evenings and occasional weekends required

·         Experience in Early Childhood, social services, health or family support programs providing parent education and support preferred

·         Experience planning developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers preferred

·         Education or experience in working with adults in a helping and teaching preferred

·         Head Start or Early Head Start experience preferred

·         Head Start or Early Head Start parent or past parent preferred

·         Access to reliable transportation required

·         Prior to date of hire and thorough employment, certification of the following are required:

o   Valid driver’s license

o   Proof of current auto insurance

o   Food Handler’s Card

o   Current enrollment in the Oregon’s Central Background Registry

o   Within 60 days of hire, Pediatric CPR/First Aid certification is required

·         Above certifications must be kept current to remain employed
