Location: Bend

Compensation: $26.47/hour (plus $0.50/hour for bilingual Spanish)

Hours: Regular full-time (40 hours/week), weekend work required, 11:30am – 8pm

Benefits: 100% premium paid Medical, Dental, Vision and Life Insurance, Agency paid Retirement plan (up to 6 %!), almost 2 weeks of paid vacation accrued within first year, plus 14 paid Holidays annually and a separate sick leave accrual.

NeighborImpact Shelter Services Overview

The mission of Shelter Services at NeighborImpact is to provide a safe, non-congregate space for houseless Central Oregonians to shelter. We value the respect and dignity of all. We aim to create a space that is physically and emotionally safe for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, religion, gender, gender identity, or sexual orientation.

 

Overview of Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The Shelter Advocate is responsible for carrying out day-to-day Shelter Services operations as well as providing case management services for guests. Their primary role is to provide emotional support, crisis intervention, and connect clients with essential services such as housing, healthcare, etc. Advocates work closely with shelter residents to develop individualized plans that address their unique needs and goals. The Advocate completes vulnerability assessments for potential guests and unhoused community. This job requires strong interpersonal skills, empathy, and a deep commitment to social justice and community service.

The weekly schedule for this position will include weekends. This is an onsite, in-person position.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

·         AA/AS in Human Services or related field required, BA/BS preferred

o   In lieu of education, 3 years direct experience in case management or related services, and/or lived experience required

·         Two years’ experience (i.e. employment, internships, and long-term volunteer position) in the field preferred

·         Passion for helping others and a desire to work in an organization that serves people who are experiencing poverty and houselessness required

·         Weekend work required

·         English/Spanish bilingual preferred

·         General knowledge of substance abuse and mental illness, and Trauma Informed Care

·         Patience, punctuality, commitment, and responsibility required

·         Knowledge of HIPAA and adherence to client confidentiality

·         Required within 90 days of hire:

–        Acquire First Aid/CPR/AED certification

–        Complete the Bloodborne Pathogens and Naloxone Training

·         Required prior to date of hire and throughout employment:

–        Proof of current auto insurance

–        Access to reliable transportation

–        Satisfactory criminal background check
