Spend the Night Caring for Dogs

Mountain Dogs Pet Resort is looking for dependable, responsible individuals to provide overnight care for our boarding dogs. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a quieter work environment, is comfortable working independently, and takes pride in providing exceptional care for animals.

While the dogs spend most of the night sleeping, your role is essential in ensuring they remain safe, comfortable, and well cared for until the morning staff arrives.

Typical Schedule

Most overnight shifts are approximately 7:00 PM to 7:30–8:00 AM, depending on business needs and morning staffing.

What You’ll Do

Your responsibilities may include:

• Supervising boarding dogs throughout the night
• Providing potty breaks before bedtime and again in the morning
• Feeding dinner and breakfast according to individual instructions
• Administering medications as directed
• Monitoring dogs for signs of illness, stress, or emergencies
• Comforting dogs that may be anxious or adjusting to boarding
• Cleaning kennels, play areas, dishes, laundry, and common areas
• Cleaning animal waste, accidents, and other messes as needed
• Using commercial cleaning products and disinfectants while following sanitation protocols
• Preparing the facility for the morning team
• Recording meals, medications, and any important overnight observations

• Is dependable and consistently arrives on time
• Can work independently with minimal supervision
• Is calm, observant, and responsible
• Has excellent attention to detail
• Enjoys working with dogs of all breeds and sizes
• Maintains a clean and organized work environment
• Can respond appropriately if an emergency arises
• Communicates clearly with the daytime team through written notes and reports

Previous experience working with dogs is helpful but not required. We are happy to train the right person who has a strong work ethic and a genuine love for animals.

Physical Requirements

Applicants should be comfortable:

• Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 pounds
• Working around barking dogs and other animal-related noise
• Cleaning animal waste, vomit, accidents, and other messes
• Regularly using cleaning chemicals and disinfectants
• Performing routine cleaning throughout the shift
• Working independently during overnight hours
