KIDS Center is looking for a Director of Finance to join our Leadership Team and help guide the financial health and long-term sustainability of our organization. This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys thinking strategically while also staying connected to the day-to-day financial work that supports our programs and operations. The Director of Finance works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, department leaders, and staff across the organization, helping ensure leaders have the financial information and insight they need to make thoughtful, mission-aligned decisions. We are looking for a collaborative, team-oriented leader who builds strong relationships and makes financial information clear, approachable, and useful.

 

As KIDS Center continues to grow and expand access to services across our six-county region, the Director of Finance will play an important role in helping us plan thoughtfully for the future, steward our resources responsibly, and support the people and programs that make our work possible.

 

What You’ll Do

·        Provide leadership and oversight for KIDS Center’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, payroll, cash management, and internal controls.

·        Partner with the Executive Director, Leadership Team, and Board of Directors to support financial planning, decision-making, and long-term organizational sustainability.

·        Lead the annual budgeting process and provide clear, timely financial information that helps departments understand their budgets, resources, and financial responsibilities.

·        Oversee grants-related financial management, including restricted funding, grant budgets, reporting, and coordination with program and development staff.

·        Support and mentor finance staff while helping strengthen systems, processes, documentation, and internal controls across the organization.

·        Coordinate annual audits, tax filings, and other financial reporting and compliance requirements.

·        Help translate financial information into practical, understandable insights for staff, leadership and board.

·        Identify opportunities to improve financial systems and processes as KIDS Center continues to grow and evolve.

 

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

·        Progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, or financial management, including responsibility for budgeting, financial reporting, forecasting, and organizational financial operations.

·        Experience overseeing payroll and benefits-related financial processes and ensuring accurate, timely administration and reconciliation.

·        Experience working in a nonprofit environment, including knowledge of restricted funding, grants, nonprofit accounting, and financial reporting.

·        Strong knowledge of accounting principles, internal controls, and sound financial management practices.

·        Demonstrated experience leading, supervising, mentoring, or developing others.

·        Experience working with Boards of Directors, Board finance committees, and nonprofit governance structures, including presenting financial information and supporting informed decision-making.

·        Ability to communicate financial information clearly and effectively to people with varying levels of financial knowledge and experience.

·        Strong judgment, organization, and attention to detail, with the ability to balance strategic priorities with day-to-day financial responsibilities.

·        A combination of relevant education and experience that demonstrates the knowledge and skills needed to successfully perform the role.

 

 

Additional Experience We Value:

·        Nonprofit audit preparation and coordination, including experience supporting Form 990 preparation.

·        Government, foundation, or other grant-funded programs and related financial reporting.

·        Financial systems, accounting software, or process implementation and improvement.

·        Multi-year financial forecasting, scenario planning, and organizational financial planning.

Compensation & Benefits

Location: Bend, OR | On-site work at KIDS Center

Classification: Full-time | Exempt                                           
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8-5 with flexibility based on organizational needs

Compensation: $110,000 – $125,000 annually, depending on qualifications and experience

About Our Services

KIDS Center is the only Children’s Advocacy Center serving Central Oregon. We provide comprehensive, child-centered services for children and families affected by abuse, including medical evaluations, forensic interviews, family advocacy, and mental health treatment. All services are provided at no cost to families.

Children are referred to KIDS Center by law enforcement, Child Welfare, medical providers, and licensed mental health professionals. Families may also access advocacy and mental health services without participating in an evaluation.

In addition to direct services, KIDS Center provides prevention education and community training on child development, healthy boundaries, sexual abuse prevention, internet safety, and other topics that help adults and communities better protect children.
