POSITION SUMMARY:

The Philanthropy Associate role is critical in supporting the continued growth and improved efficiency of fundraising efforts at Hospice of Redmond. As it moves from a single channel approach with its successful signature event to a year-round multi-faceted donor development program, the Philanthropy Associate will provide leadership and coordination of all fundraising and donor development activities.

The Philanthropy Associate will manage the capture and flow of constituent and donor information utilizing the donor database management system to process gifts, record prospect research notes to build profiles, generate targeted mailing lists, initiate and track grant proposals, conduct periodic direct mail campaigns, and manage event ticketing and sponsorships.

As an external-facing position, the Philanthropy Associate will proactively seek opportunities to generate philanthropic support through memorial and tribute gifting, corporate sponsorships, program grants, and strategic giving from individuals.

The new Philanthropy Associate will work collegially with the clinical team, administrative staff, contractors, volunteers, and the governing board to assure that the organization’s strategic objectives are adequately funded. As the organization’s first Development professional, you will have a ground floor opportunity to shape the resource development program at this highly regarded healthcare organization in Redmond, Oregon.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Plan and manage all strategies and activities for donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and relations.
  • Input, code, and process all financial gifts, including matching gift requests and payments, contributions from individual donors, donor-advised funds, gifts of stock, as well as contributions from events and campaigns. Work with financial planners, foundation program directors, attorneys, and fiduciaries to assure proper transactions between donors and the organization.
  • Grants management: identification of foundation funders, proposal writing, tracking application process, assuring proper use of funds and report writing.
  • Maintain the overall integrity of the CRM database and oversee data entry to ensure that donations are processed and entered into the database promptly and accurately.
  • Work with the Finance Manager on end of month financial reconciliation for all donations collected during the previous month.
  • Provide customer service to donors and follow up on donor needs/concerns in a timely manner.
  • Other assigned development and administrative duties; occasional work beyond the traditional workday, especially during the signature event in early December.
  • Communicate effectively and maintain productive relationships with coworkers, clients, donors, and contacts outside our organization.
  • Sets and adjusts priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining focus and managing disruptions and/or unexpected requests.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in nonprofit resource development with a range of responsibilities. Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) certification preferred.
  • Experience and familiarity with Oregon’s local and regional foundations, private donors, and philanthropic landscape.
  • Prior experience managing special events that raise in excess of $250,000.
  • Prior experience with nonprofit CRM software and/or donor management systems.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit finance basics and its relationship to donor development as well as the basics of charitable giving vehicles (cash, stock, in-kind, DAFs, QCDs, pledges, grants, etc).
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ease with meeting people and developing relationships that connect the community with Hospice of Redmond. Self-directed and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated initiative and independence in establishing effective systems and workflows that consistently meet quality and timeliness expectations.
  • A self-starter, data and deadline driven, and ability to multi-task with solid organizational and time-management skills.
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
  • Strong experience with MS Office Suite.
  • Desire to be part of an evolving organization and to contribute to its growth and reputation.

  • Competitive and commensurate with experience. Compensation for the position will be discussed early in the interview process.
