POSITION AND ORGANIZATION INFO:

We are seeking a youth centered, organized, and proactive Program Assistant to primarily support the daily operations of our Conservation Corps program.  This role is essential in supporting youth (corpsmembers) as they learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.  The Program Assistant will work closely with staff and youth to ensure programs are delivered effectively, and logistics and program facilities are well-maintained.

The Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the program by assisting with logistical, clerical, and program activities. Key duties including purchasing and project logistics, fleet and facilities maintenance. For example purchasing equipment, grocery shopping for camp related items, taking inventory supplies, moving vehicles, and with outdoor tasks such as supporting staff in the field in all aspects. In addition, in this role you would need to be comfortable in Central Oregon climates.

The Program Assistant also helps with transporting youth. Additional responsibilities include participating in safety and operations meetings, and supporting events, volunteers, and special projects as needed.

This position is primarily based at our Bend, Prineville, and Redmond Oregon offices.  The position is supervised by the Program Director and is a larger part of a program staff team of 9.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Our ideal candidate will bring a combination of education and experience in reception, facility maintenance, customer service, office administration, or similar roles. A High School Diploma or GED is required; post-secondary education or training is preferred but not required and a valid Driver’s License. Candidates should have basic experience in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using basic office technology and doing hands-on tasks like cleaning, stocking, and general maintenance.

Additionally, it is highly preferred the position is held by someone with fluent bilingual (Spanish) skills.

We are looking for an individual who has the ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment, and focuses their attention on detail, accuracy, and timely completion of tasks.  Professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability are essential in this role.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, including the ability to write professional emails and business correspondence.  A positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and sense of humor are all valued traits on our team.

Physical Requirements: Light work in an office setting, with facility maintenance and stocking/shopping tasks. Majority of the role walking, standing, stooping and occasionally carrying/lifting of items 50 pounds.

BENEFITS:

The starting wage range for the position is $22.00/hour firm.

This is a Temporary full-time role, ideally from March to end of September, but could be extended, hourly staff position.  Sick time is available on an accrual basis.
