Overview:

The Habitat Thrift Store is a cornerstone of our mission and a vital source of funding for affordable homes in our community. We are seeking a hands-on, results-oriented Thrift Store Manager to oversee operations, strengthen financial performance, and lead the store into its next chapter of growth and impact.

About the Role:

The Thrift Store Manager is responsible for the overall operation and performance of the store, including staff and volunteer leadership, inventory management, merchandising, customer service, financial performance, and facility oversight. The ideal candidate is an approachable and capable leader who can build strong relationships while also consistently upholding policies, procedures, and financial controls.

What You’ll Do (including but not limited to):

  • Lead all day-to-day store operations
  • Drive financial performance through budgeting, reporting, and revenue management
  • Oversee inventory control, merchandising, and pricing strategy
  • Recruit, supervise, and support paid staff and volunteers
  • Set clear expectations and ensure consistent adherence to store policies and operational standards
  • Monitor safety, compliance, security, and facility needs*Foster a culture of inclusion, respect, and service

What You Bring:

  • Confident leadership and the ability to firmly enforce policies and procedures
  • Strong organizational and operational management skills
  • Financial literacy, including budgeting and basic reporting
  • Confidence working with diverse populations
  • Sound judgment, problem-solving ability, and attention to detail
  • Proficiency with point-of-sale systems and standard computer applications

Experience That Sets You Apart:

  • 3–5 years of retail management or comparable operational leadership
  • Experience in nonprofit, thrift, resale, or social enterprise settings preferred
  • Experience supervising both paid staff and volunteers strongly preferred
  • Background in merchandising, inventory management, and budgeting
