SUMMARY

The Data Governance Manager is responsible for ensuring adherence to all of First Interstate Bank’s data governance policies and standards.  They will assist with developing the enterprise data governance roadmap.  The Data Governance Manager will work with business unit managers and subject matter experts to implement and report on the progress of data governance initiatives to the enterprise data governance council and other management.  This role will have oversight of and be the primary administrator for the enterprise data governance platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and report on enterprise data governance KPIs and Metrics
  • Assist with performing enterprise data governance maturity assessments
  • Facilitate the development of data quality standards and processes
  • Work with and train data stewards while further developing the data stewardship program
  • Develop and maintain an inventory of enterprise information maps, including authoritative systems, owners, and stewards.
  • Work with data owners and stewards to develop and maintain a business glossary, metadata, and a library of data assets in the enterprise data governance software.
  • Design and implement processes for further expanding data governance processes and the Collibra environment.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

OTHER SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS

Familiarity with SQL, DB2, Microsoft Power BI, Cognos, Collibra Data Governance software, & DAMA Data Management Body of Knowledge (DMBOK).

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply principles or logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems. Ability to deal with nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, musical notes, etc.,) in its most difficult phases. Ability to deal with a variety of abstract and concrete variables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk and talk or hear.  The employee frequently is required to stand and sit.  The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
