Requirements:    To maintain and develop the GIS resources towards increased efficiency of the co-op. This is an in-office position, located at our Redmond office.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent the electrical infrastructure in the mapping system (GIS) using ESRI, NISC and other software, including work on desktops, servers, and mobile devices
  • Input as-built work orders into GIS; maintain internal map viewer for all staff, maintain external map for field users and ensure data is updated nightly
  • Work together in a small department and address challenges as they arise
  • Contact internal or external technical support to resolve any issues encountered regarding mapping products
  • Define map needs and accommodate the needs of the user to deliver an aesthetically pleasing, visually effective map product
  • Conduct research using company documents or external data sources to address non-mapping requests from other departments
  • Handle projects with sensitive material or communication among departments/agencies diplomatically
  • Create inspection maps and applications for CEC internal and contracted field inspectors
  • Document methodology and explain new layers, functions or tools to users
  • Conduct training sessions for departments using GIS or other developed mapping systems
  • Work cooperatively with I.S. staff as needed to maintain servers and data storage and backup
  • Assess new software and hardware as needed and provide recommendations
  • Research technology of GIS advancements and how these functions could benefit and apply to enhance existing GIS

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in GIS, Cartography, or electrical systems mapping, or a relevant degree coupled with equivalent work experience is required
  • Must have current and relevant software knowledge
  • Ability to become GIS Professionally certified within 2 years of hire date
  • Valid State of Oregon Driver’s License preferred
