Requirements: To perform annual verification reads on meters, and inspect meters and immediate surrounding equipment annually or as directed by supervisor. This will serve to provide accurate information which will enable the Cooperative to implement billing practices and ensure equipment safety. Work may include, but not be limited to, assisting Customer & Energy Services, and Operations Departments as needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Duties include performing annual meter verification reads and inspecting the meters and immediate surrounding equipment for any defects or damage, supplying repair and maintenance workers with the necessary information to fix damaged meters which may include checking meters for evidence of tampering
- Check inactive accounts, periodically or as directed by supervisor for any illegal conditions which may be present in the field and report such findings
- Performs other duties and special assignments as requested from time to time
- Reports member questions or complaints to the proper departments on such matters as high bills, desired location of new services, power outages, low voltage, security light outages or hazardous conditions on the system, etc.
- Records and accounts for all time, mileage and materials on the proper forms used in performing duties of the job
- Operates meter truck for the purpose of auditing and investigating meters and hanging door hangers as directed
- Utilizes tablet for the collection and organization of field data
- Wears required safety gloves, shields, clothing, etc. as designated
- Courteously answer member inquiries and if unable to do so, direct them to the appropriate person to make every effort to gain their acceptance and increased understanding of the Cooperative’s plans, programs and policies
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Should have effective working knowledge of general office practices, computer use as well as experience working with tablets and mobile technology solutions
- Knowledge of the use of simple equipment and hand tools
- Possess the ability to learn to recognize and report hazards, as well as competency in proper PPE application
- High school graduate preferred or special training equivalent thereto
- Ability to complete OSHA 1910.269 and CPR/First Aid training
- Handle irregular volume of work; basic mathematical skills to enable computation of past/present meter readings
- Job also requires the ability to meet and deal tactfully and courteously with associates, members, potential members and the public
- Valid State of Oregon driver’s license required
