Job Summary: 

Oversee and manage the production scheduling process to ensure efficient resource utilization, timely product delivery, and continuous process improvement. Analyze data, develop strategic plans, and lead a team of production schedulers and/or clerks to meet operational goals for assigned location.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Leads the production scheduling team in developing and managing production schedules based on demand forecasts, production capacity, and inventory levels.
  • Analyzes production data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements, optimize production schedules, and develop strategic plans.
  • Monitors production schedules, identifies bottlenecks or inefficiencies, and makes data-driven adjustments to optimize production flow, minimize downtime, and ensure on-time delivery.
  • Leads and participates in process improvement initiatives, implements best practices, and drives continuous improvement in production scheduling processes.
  • Collaborates with production supervisors, maintenance, supply chain, sales, engineering, operations and other departments to ensure alignment, effective communication, and successful execution of production plans.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and mentorship to the production scheduling team. Fosters a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous learning.
  • Prepares and presents reports on production schedules, performance metrics, inventory levels, process improvements, and strategic initiatives to senior management and stakeholders.


Education and Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in business, operations management or related field and 3 years of experience in production scheduling, production planning, or related roles within a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Advanced knowledge in production planning software, ERP systems, and Microsoft Excel for data analysis, modeling, and reporting.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a strategic mindset to analyze complex data, identify trends, and develop long-term production strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, influence decision-making, and drive change.
  • Keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in production schedules, data analysis, and documentation.

Work Environment:

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to climb and stoop.
  • Job requires the ability to sit or stand for the majority of work schedule
  • Requires periodic visits to manufacturing facility with exposure to seasonal hot/cold temperatures, dust, loud noise and chemical fumes.
