Position Highlights

As a Court Operations Associate (Court Recorder), you will create the official record of court proceedings and provide administrative and technical support in the courtroom. The role requires sustained attention, accurate real-time data entry, sound judgment and calm customer service in a fast-paced legal setting.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor digital courtroom recording systems and maintain detailed logs of proceedings.
  • Set up and support video, telephone and multimedia presentations, including troubleshooting courtroom technology.
  • Swear in witnesses and jurors and assist with jury seating, attendance, movement and safety.
  • Answer calls, coordinate schedules, verify fees and respond to procedural questions.
  • Enter case information in real time and research case records as needed.
  • Prepare and process orders, judgments, forms and other legal documents.
  • Receive, label, safeguard and track exhibits.
  • Coordinate with attorneys, law-enforcement agencies, corrections staff and other justice partners.
  • Prepare courtrooms and jury rooms, maintain supplies and provide backup support to Judicial Assistants.
  • Participate in training and perform other court-support duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent, plus at least three years of experience performing complex office or business tasks involving financial, administrative or legal documents; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience.

Requested Skills

  • Administrative support experience involving competing priorities and firm deadlines.
  • Ability to work confidently across multiple software programs and technical systems.
  • Ability to listen, type and maintain an accurate log at the same time.
  • Professional customer service skills, including in difficult or emotionally charged situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to review documents and data for accuracy.

Working Conditions

  • Typical schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • This position is eligible for overtime and may occasionally require work outside regular hours.
  • Work takes place in a high-detail, sometimes stressful court environment.
  • The employee may interact with defendants who are in custody.
  • The role requires extended periods of sitting or standing and regular use of recording and multimedia equipment.
