Position Overview

The Regional Alternative Investment Manager & Finance Assistant will support managing and growing Roundhouse Foundation’s regional alternative investment portfolio. The Manager works closely with the Director of Operations, the Executive Director, the Investment Committee, and the Trustees to identify, evaluate, execute, and monitor investments that align with the Foundation’s financial objectives, Investment Policy Statement and mission. 

The staff member serves as the lead staff for all current alternative investments managed within the Roundhouse Foundation office throughout rural Oregon and the Pacific Northwest.  They will  manage relationships and communication with all parties involved. As a visible representative of Roundhouse Foundation, the Manager participates in educational opportunities about impact investing and contributes to the field by sharing Roundhouse Foundation’s program and philosophy with practitioners. This staff person will also assist in coordinating all Investment Committee meetings, including those with the Foundation’s external financial managers. 

In addition, this position provides day to day bookkeeping support of the Foundation’s grants account.  They will work closely with our Grants Manager and Director of Finance to ensure all accounts payable are tracked and distributed as required.  

The position is based in Sisters, Oregon; remote work is not available. 

Essential Functions

Serve as primary staff liaison to the Executive Director, Trustees, and the Investment Committee on regional alternative investment matters. Work closely with the Director of Operations and Executive Director to do the following: 
Prepare meeting agendas, minutes, potential investment recommendations, regular portfolio reports, a dashboard of the portfolio, and presentations for committee and Trustee meetings.
Track and follow-through on all communications with the committee and the Trustees as it is related to their position. 
Source and analyze opportunities for program-related and mission-related investments within the region that align with the Foundation’s mission and Investment Policy Statement. 
With Investment Committee and Trustee approval, conduct due diligence and financial analysis on prospective alternative impact investments including program-related investments (PRIs) and mission-related investments (MRIs); report findings in a timely manner to the Director of Operations and Executive Director.
Assist with the occasional process of updating the Foundation’s Investment Policy Statement.
Stay current on relevant research and findings on alternative impact investing.
Represent the Foundation in impact investing networks and peer groups; build relationships with practitioners.
Provide data and content for marketing and storytelling team members to share with the public.  

Provide bookkeeping support for the grants account within the Foundation.  Day-to-day support of check writing, wire transfers, and other accounts payable requirements.  Draft reports as necessary.  Work closely with Grants Manager and Director of Finance to ensure compliance with state and federal laws.  
Occasional other duties on behalf of The Roundhouse Foundation as assigned.
Minimum qualifications

A successful candidate will demonstrate a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in each of the functional areas listed below. Additionally, they will embody the following personality traits and personal profile:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in accounting, finance, investments, or other related fields, experience with nonprofits preferred.
Demonstrates strong analytical skills and the ability to identify financial risks, opportunities, trends, and key relationships.
Basic Accounts Payable experience. 
Strong understanding of traditional and alternative investments. Understanding the due diligence process and thorough review of opportunities coupled with the ability to present options to a small group.
Critical thinker, natural networker and strong financial manager. 
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to translate and communicate financial terms for non-financial audiences
Creative problem solver and innovative thinker with the ability to face shifting priorities and conditions with grace and skill.
Experienced working with Quickbooks online, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and other online tools.
Experience facilitating a committee on investment recommendations and strategy.
People-oriented; organized, energetic, creative individual who enjoys supporting communities through a variety of systems and thrives in a mission-driven environment. 
A self-motivated individual who can function on their own or as part of a team, who is comfortable providing hands-on support on a working Ranch.
Ability to travel as necessary for site visits and conferences.
Personal qualities of honesty, transparency, integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for PMRCAA and the Roundhouse Foundation mission. 
Desired qualifications

Masters or advanced degree in accounting, finance or similar field.
Relationships with communities and/or non-profits in the rural Pacific NW.
Lived rural experience.
Multi-lingual: Spanish is preferred. 

Compensation
This is a full-time, exempt, employee position.  Position compensation is $70,000 – $95,000/annually.  Roundhouse Foundation provides group health insurance coverage (medical, dental, vision) including medical transport insurance for eligible employees working an average of at least 30 hours per week, subject to the terms of the health insurance plan and a 401K for eligible employees.  This position does not allow for remote work.

A current driver’s license and ability to travel on occasion.

Background check & Drug Testing

We are a community-centered organization, and all our staff conduct significant outreach to schools, social service centers, and other partner organizations. In addition, our facility (which houses both Roundhouse Foundation main offices and Pine Meadow Ranch Center for Arts & Agriculture) is a drug-free workplace. PMRCAA is a working ranch with safety-sensitive positions that would be dangerous if performed under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Roundhouse Foundation requires all new staff members to satisfactorily pass a background check, driving record check and pre-employment drug screen for the safety of employees, community partners and visitors.  Therefore, employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen, background and driving record check.  All employees may be subject to reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing.
