Join a Mission That Changes Lives

Every day, Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) provides free, compassionate healthcare to uninsured adults throughout Central Oregon because we believe everyone deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their ability to pay.

For more than 20 years, VIM has provided free, compassionate healthcare to uninsured adults throughout Central Oregon through the generosity of volunteers, donors, healthcare professionals, and community partners.

We’re looking for an experienced philanthropy and community engagement leader who is passionate about building relationships, inspiring generosity, and helping shape the future of one of Central Oregon’s most respected nonprofit healthcare organizations.

If you believe philanthropy has the power to transform lives, we’d love to meet you.

Why This Role Matters

As our Director of Philanthropy & Community Engagement, you’ll lead VIM’s fundraising, donor engagement, marketing, and community outreach efforts.

Working closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and community partners, you’ll build meaningful relationships that strengthen philanthropic support, expand community awareness, and ensure VIM continues providing compassionate healthcare to those who need it most.

You’ll build upon an established fundraising program and strong community reputation while helping shape the future of an organization making a measurable difference in the lives of thousands of Central Oregonians.

How You’ll Make an Impact

Philanthropy

  • Develop and execute VIM’s annual fundraising strategy.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual, corporate, and foundation donors.
  • Build authentic, long-term relationships that inspire generosity and strengthen philanthropic investment.
  • Partner with the Executive Director and Board to advance fundraising priorities.
  • Oversee donor data, reporting, and fundraising analytics through DonorPerfect.

Marketing & Communications

  • Lead VIM’s marketing and communications strategy.
  • Oversee fundraising campaigns, newsletters, annual appeals, website content, social media, and organizational messaging.
  • Ensure VIM’s mission and impact are communicated consistently through compelling storytelling and branding across all communication channels.
  • Build relationships with local media and community partners to increase awareness of VIM’s mission.

Community Engagement

  • Lead VIM’s signature fundraising events, including Heart of Healthcare and Founders & Friends.
  • Serve as an ambassador for VIM by cultivating meaningful relationships throughout Central Oregon.
  • Build partnerships that expand awareness, engagement, and philanthropic support.

Who You Are

You are a relationship builder who believes generosity begins with trust. You are equally comfortable meeting with a donor, collaborating with colleagues, or representing VIM in the community, and you believe meaningful relationships are the foundation of successful philanthropy.

You enjoy connecting people with a mission they care about and understand that meaningful philanthropy is built through authentic relationships and thoughtful stewardship.

You bring:

  • Five or more years of nonprofit fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated success in donor cultivation, stewardship, and fundraising strategy.
  • Experience leading fundraising campaigns and special events.
  • Strong written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
  • Experience with donor databases (DonorPerfect or similar CRM), Microsoft 365, Canva, and digital communications.
  • A collaborative leadership style and a passion for serving the community.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; CFRE certification is a plus.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At VIM, you’ll join a collaborative team committed to improving lives through compassionate healthcare. You’ll work alongside dedicated volunteers, an engaged Board of Directors, generous donors, and community partners who believe everyone deserves access to care. Every day offers an opportunity to build relationships, inspire generosity and make a lasting impact in the Central Oregon community.
