POSITION AND ORGANIZATION INFO:

We are seeking a youth centered, organized, and proactive Program Assistant to primarily support the daily operations of our YouthBuild program.  This role is essential in supporting youth (corpsmembers) as they learn, grow, and prepare for their futures.  The Program Assistant will work closely with staff and youth to ensure programs are delivered effectively, and logistics and program facilities are well-managed.

The Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the program by assisting with logistical, clerical, and program activities. Key duties include greeting corps members each day, tracking and recording attendance, following up with absent members and their families to identify and communicate barriers to participation.  They will help corpsmembers understand program expectations and assist them in preparing and submitting accurate timesheets.  The role involves a lot of hands-on tasks such as driving groups of youth in program vehicles, shopping for and stocking supplies, organizing tools and equipment, cleaning and scheduling cleaning for facilities and fleet vehicles, and snow and ice removal. The role also involves clerical tasks such as maintaining records and answering phones.

The Program Assistant also helps with program activities and member development. This includes activities such as assisting with recruitment outreach, enrollment, orientations, and youth supervision. Additional responsibilities include participating in safety and operations meetings, and supporting events, volunteers, and special projects as needed.

This position is primarily based at our Redmond and Sisters, Oregon offices. Please note that the organization is moving to its new Redmond Central Campus in June 2026, with the Sisters locations closing at that time.  The position is supervised by the Program Director and is a larger part of a larger program staff team of 12.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Our ideal candidate will bring a combination of education and experience in reception, facility maintenance, customer service, office administration, or similar roles. A High School Diploma or GED is required; post-secondary education or training is preferred but not required. Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable using standard office technology and doing hands-on tasks like cleaning, stocking, and snow removal.

Additionally, it is highly preferred the position is held by someone with fluent bilingual (Spanish) skills. A 5% wage differential for fluent Spanish bilingual skills available.

We are looking for an individual who has the ability to work in a fast-paced, often changing environment, and focuses their attention on detail, accuracy, and timely completion of tasks.  Professionalism, confidentiality, and reliability are essential in this role.  Excellent oral and written communication skills are required, including the ability to write professional emails and business correspondence.  A positive attitude, collaborative mindset, and sense of humor are all valued traits on our team.

Physical Requirements: medium work in an office setting, with facility maintenance and stocking/shopping tasks. Some walking, standing, stooping and occasionally carrying/lifting of items 50 pounds.

BENEFITS:

The starting wage range for the position is $22.00/hour firm.  A 5% wage differential for fluent Spanish bilingual skills.

This is a full-time, year-round, hourly staff position, with employee health, dental and vision benefits paid 100% by the employer.  Time off is generous, with 12 paid holidays (which includes 6 days while the offices are closed over the winter holidays), plus 80 hours paid vacation and 40 hours paid sick time/year. Vacation leave benefits increase after just one year.
