Job Summary
The College of Education is seeking a College of Education Internship Coordinator. This is a full-time 1.00 FTE, 12-month, professional faculty position.
The College of Education Internship Coordinator at OSU-Cascades campus conducts, facilitates, advises, and oversees Teacher Education program students in their clinical field placements. They will also work to procure placements for School Counselors, who are supervised by Counseling Faculty.
This position coordinates with academic and professional faculty, licensure staff, and external stakeholders (Central Oregon School District administrators, teachers, and counselors, state and national regulators) to support student completion of their clinical field placements.
Primary responsibilities will be to procure and manage clinical placements for OSU-Cascades students in the Teacher Education and Counseling programs. This includes developing and maintaining professional relationships with the six Central Oregon school districts (Bend La Pine Schools, Redmond, Culver, Madras, Sisters, and Crook County.) The Internship Coordinator will provide regular updates to the cooperating teachers (mentor teachers), school counseling supervisors, and serve as their point of contact for program or student related questions. They will also lead cooperating teacher and school counseling supervisor events.
OSU-Cascades, located in Bend, Ore., is a branch campus of Oregon State University. Established in 2001, the university currently enrolls more than 1,100 students in bachelor’s and master’s degree programs. The campus expanded to a four-year university in 2015 and opened its new campus in 2016. The branch campus has ambitious enrollment goals to reach 3,000 to 5,000 students by 2025. Key Responsibilities
60% Securing and managing student teaching and counseling field internship and practicum placements:
Procures, coordinates, conducts and oversees clinical field placements for Teacher Education and Counseling programs from establishment to completion, utilizing available resources (rules/procedures/laws, College of Education, Cascades campus and school/district contacts) as necessary. Develops and maintains professional relationships with six Central Oregon school districts, in collaboration with the Clinical Partnership Liaison and relevant program-specific faculty
Advises students on developing their placement portfolios and determines the best placement fit to enhance attainment of teaching or school counseling license, in coordination with Teacher and Counselor Education academic faculty and school district personnel. Applies program/institution policies as well as state laws and regulations to determine appropriate placements that will satisfy licensure requirements per content area and authorization level.
In collaboration with program faculty, provides training/instruction to prospective student teachers and school counseling students on the placement application and process, as well as provides counsel to students in their educational, career development plans, and leadership skills. (Teacher Education placement numbers: 30-50 students; Human Development and Family Sciences placement numbers: 3-5 students; & MCOUN placement numbers: 15-30 students.)
Secures and manages school placements for:
- Undergraduate programs: Teaching: Elementary Education and Human Development & Family Sciences
- Masters of Arts in Teaching Programs
- Masters in Counseling Programs
Maintain current Practicum sites for the B.S. in Teaching: Elementary Education, the MCOUN school counseling program, and develop additional practicum sites throughout all 6 Central Oregon partner school districts. Monitor sites as liaison and maintain relationships. Continue to develop as site availability changes.
Leads and supports Teacher Candidate and school counseling student workshops, Cooperating Teacher website development and training modules for Mentors (cooperating teachers / school personnel and University Supervisors-clinical faculty), employer and alumni panels, and networking events between students and school employers.
25%: Student Support
- Liaise with the Career Development Center at OSU-Cascades to support students in their educational and leadership skills, including resume and professional profile development. Coordinates and facilitates trainings and workshops pertaining to internship and employment success.
- Supports academic faculty and students in internship and practicum courses and acts as a liaison between students and their offcampus placement agency.
15% Program Support
- Provide professional support needed by University Supervisors and school counseling site supervisors (US, instructional coaches), including leading new US training, and leading US meetings.
- Collaborates with the Teaching Academic Program Coordinator, Counseling Academic Program Coordinator, and OSU Events staff to plan, organize, and implement program events for mentor teachers and school counseling site supervisors.
- Collaborates with Program Lead / Academic Program Coordinator, and faculty across teacher education and counselor education to recruit, retain, train, and support university supervisors.
- Participates in faculty and student care meetings.

This position requires driving a university vehicle or a personal vehicle on behalf of the university; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver’s license in their state of residence, be determined to be position qualified and self-report convictions as per University Policy 05-030.
This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every 24 months.
