The Communications Manager will play a critical role in managing both the communication strategies and key site initiatives. This hybrid role combines responsibilities for internal and external communications with project management, ensuring the effective execution of strategic priorities. The Communications Manager will also oversee a team of administrative assistants, coordinating their efforts in alignment with site operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Internal and External Communications:
- Collaborate with the site head and leadership team to understand the site’s strategic goals and objectives.
- Create and implement internal communication campaigns that help employees clearly understand the site’s direction, priorities, and how their work contributes to overall success.
- Develop external communications that help customers understand the site’s priorities, demonstrating how we partner with them to drive mutual success and achieve better outcomes.
- Develop and deliver a wide range of materials including newsletters, press releases, internal reports, presentations, and external communications, while maintaining consistent messaging across all platforms.
Project Management:
- Serve as a key partner to the site head in driving strategic initiatives across the site.
- Develop project timelines, track milestones, and ensure regular updates and communication around progress.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to manage projects from concept to completion, including process improvements, employee engagement, and operational changes.
- Facilitate meetings, manage resources, and mitigate risks to keep projects on track.
Team Supervision:
- Directly supervise the Executive Assistant, who will oversee a team administrative assistant for the site
- Provide overall direction and strategic guidance for the administrative team, ensuring alignment with the plant’s goals and priorities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Assistant to assign tasks, optimize workflows, and ensure administrative support meets the needs of the plant’s operations.
- Set clear expectations and performance standards for the administrative team, conducting regular check-ins and providing feedback to the Executive Assistant for coaching and development.
- Facilitate communication and coordination between the administrative team and other departments to ensure efficient processes and seamless support.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Business, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in corporate communications and project management, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a team.
- Excellent project management skills with a track record of delivering complex initiatives on time and within scope.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proven ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and influence outcomes.
- Familiarity with project management software and communication tools (e.g., Microsoft Office, design software).
- Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- A proactive problem-solver with a focus on strategic execution.
- A team player with a leadership mindset, fostering collaboration across departments.
- Ability to manage confidential information and work under tight deadlines.
Work Environment:
- On-site role, no or limited travel required.
