The Merchant Trader at Sunriver Resort is looking to hire a seaonal retail associate during evening and weekend shifts! The Merchant Trader offers exclusive apparel, accessories, blankets and glassware, as well as specialty items that reflect Central Oregon’s unique culture. The Retail Associate is responsible for providing a warm and inviting guest experience in the retail outlet.  They will provide exceptional customer service, as well as strive to achieve sales goals. The Retail Associate is responsible for carrying out all retail directives accurately and effectively that are given by supervisor or Retail Director.  The Retail Associate will maintain the AAA Four Diamond standards. Trust, Open & Honest Communication, and Commitment. The Retail Associate shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times. They will be responsible for exemplifying the Sunriver Resort Culture as well as promoting Sunriver Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice! ** Must be available to work evenings and weekends

Responsibilities

Greets and welcomes guests at every turn on or off the floor; eye contact, engage in conversation, and be outgoingOffers warm and sincere welcome/farewell for all guests of Sunriver Resort including use of guest name when possible & good eye contact with each guest.Responds promptly and with accurate and creative suggestions to meet guests’ needsUses suggestive selling techniques to increase revenueRecommends, selects and helps locate or obtain merchandise based on guests’ needs and desiresEffectively describes and explains the use, operation and/or care of merchandise to guestsPolitely and professionally answers all guest inquiresUp sells other resort services and amenities to guestsProfessionally answers incoming guests calls and directs calls appropriatelyProvides general resort information for guestsResolves guest problems and is empowered to act in absence of managerRemains alert, courteous and helpful to the guests and colleagues at all timesOpens and closes cash register, performing tasks such as counting money, separating charge slips, vouchers, balancing cash drawers and making depositsMaintains a clean and organized environment: including vacuuming, dusting, “picking up” after guests re-stocking, organizingMaintains strong knowledge of current sales and promotions, policies regarding payment and exchanges, and security practicesAssists in ticketing merchandiseResponsible for checking in merchandise, stocking and effectively merchandising the retail floorMaintains a strong knowledge of outlet inventoryAssists with inventoriesEnsures retail and resort materials are current and up to date

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrior retail experience preferredPrior hospitality experience preferredAt least one year customer service experience requiredMust have excellent phone etiquette Must have basic math skillsMust be able to accurately follow instructions, both verbally and writtenMust possesses excellent communication skillsMust be able to work well under pressureAbility to work a flexible schedule that includes evenings, weekends and holidaysMust be able to stand on feet throughout the day, with intermittent periods of walking.Must be able to lift 1 to 10 pounds constantly, up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.
