2nd Assistant Superintendent

We are hiring a full-time, seasonal 2nd Assistant Superintendent for our Golf Maintenance Team! The 2nd Assistant Superintendent is responsible for assisting in the implementation of all aspects of the daily operation including, but not limited to direct supervision of all greenkeepers and landscapers. They will provide motivation and leadership to ensure the successful operation of the golf course. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will assist in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond Standards. The 2nd Assistant Superintendent will conduct themselves in manner which supports the Core Values of Sunriver Resort: Trust, Commitment, and Open and Honest Communication. They shall strive to provide exceptional service to both internal and external guests at all times and for exemplifying the Sunriver Resort Culture as well as promoting Sunriver Resort as both the Destination and Employer of Choice!
Assists in the implementation of all aspects of the daily operation, including, but not limited to, direct supervision of all greenkeepers and landscapersAssists in the daily operation and repair of the irrigation system Assists in the training and operation of all pieces of equipment with safety being the highest of prioritiesParticipates in the implementation of the Hazardous Communications ProgramOperates any piece of equipment as requiredParticipates in all aspects of direct supervision for all mowers, trap maintenance people and landscapersAssists in proper record keepingSupervises crew during absence of Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent (includes weekends & holidays when applicable)Assists in implementation of projects and using the assigned crew to finish projects in a timely mannerProperly mows greens and teesOperates tractors, using specific attachments, to till, cultivate, and grade new turf areasAssists with landscaping; planting, cultivating, pruning, care of plants, shrubs and trees on golf courseResponsible for bunker maintenance Repairs divots throughout courseRakes sand trapsMaintains a strong knowledge of emergency procedures Communicates all pertinent information to the golf maintenance team
High school education or equivalent requiredThree to five years of appropriate schooling, experience or training in golf course maintenance preferredStrong golf course background with experience in all phases of turf management program requiredExperience with and the ability to operate specialized golf course turf management equipment requiredMust be a United States citizen or possess a valid work permitMust have a valid Oregon drivers license and meet company driving standardsExcellent equipment operation skillsMust have interest and knowledge of the game of golf Must have strong irrigation background; repair, maintenance, installation, clocks, pumps, computer central, etc.Must have current or be willing to obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicators license within 6 monthsAbility to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidaysMust be able to work in a variety of weather conditions (rain, wind, snow, cold, sun & heat);Must be able to stand & walk throughout the day, including on uneven surfaces;Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs and very occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance; Must be able to have frequent contact with fertilizers & pesticides;
