1st Assistant Superintendent – Woodlands Golf Course
Sunriver Resort is hiring as part of our Woodlands Golf Course team! Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the 1st Assistant Superintendent is responsible for directing and managing the maintenance of Sunriver Resort’s Woodlands Golf Course to produce the highest quality playing conditions in the most efficient and economic manner. They will develop maintenance programs using modern equipment, techniques and fertilizers to maintain the highest quality, standards and image as established by the corporation. The 1st Asst. Superintendent will assist in maintaining the AAA Four Diamond standards. The 1st Asst. Superintendent will always conduct themselves in a manner which supports the Core Values of Sunriver Resort: Trust, Commitment, and Open and Honest communication. Supervises the performance, attendance, attitudes, appearance and conduct of golf maintenance staff Maintains a professional image for self and crew in keeping with the high standards of a first class resortMaintains a strong morale and spirit throughout golf maintenance teamResponsible for reinforcement of department and company standards through trainingCompletes all proper new hire and termination paperworkRecommends discipline and/or termination when appropriateWorks with HR to recruit and hire staffManages timely completion of performance reviewsAssist Head Superintendent with paying all invoices in a timely and accurate mannerMonitor time punches in ADP Kronos, ensuring accurate payrollCommunicate with members and guests in a professional mannerAssists with the development, training and inspiration of golf maintenance teamUtilizes labor management tools to schedule and control labor costsResponsible for the achievement of department goals and objectivesReviews guest/member course and pace of play feedback through Revinate / Member Survey and communicates information to team to ensure continual guest/member satisfactionActs with responsibility towards all company property, supplies and equipment. Responsible for overall condition of the golf courses to the standards established by the department and the corporationAssists in the preparation of operating and capital budgets and operate courses within those guidelinesEstablishes turf management programs appropriate for the Woodlands Golf course Establishes and maintains appropriate record keeping for fertilizer and pesticides, gas and equipment parts inventoriesUtilizes labor management tools to schedule and control labor costsImplements and monitors Hazardous Communication Program and all other associate training programs, with safety the highest of prioritiesMaintains safe and pleasant work environmentAssisting with development and supervision all golf course special projectsTours and assesses golf course conditions dailyConducts weekly problem solving/planning sessionsAssist in equipment purchase, storage, inventory and maintenanceResponsible for landscaping; planting, cultivating, pruning, care of plants, shrubs and trees on golf courseResponsible for records: expense, weather, material applications and inventoriesMonitors outside contractors for special golf course projectsAttends appropriate resort, division and department meetingsMaintains a strong knowledge of golf maintenance trends
High school education or equivalent requiredDegree in Turf Management desirable (enrollment required) and/or combination of experience and training requiredMinimum of three (3) years in a similar managerial position requiredMember of Golf Course Superintendent’s Association of America (GCSAA)Must have a valid Oregon drivers license and meet company driving standardsMust have valid First Aid & CPR certificationMust have or be willing to obtain within 180 days of start date a commercial pesticide applicator’s licenseAttend proper pesticide seminars to maintain a current applicators license Must have strong irrigation background (i.e. installation, repair and maintenance, with experience in computerized central)Must have thorough understanding of the game of golf so as to understand the playability of the courseMust be current with modern turf management techniques and equipment by attending local training and seminarsAbility to work a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends and holidaysMust be able to frequently lift, push, pull & carry up to 25 lbs, occasionally up to 50 lbs and very occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance; Must be able to have frequent contact with fertilizers & pesticides;
