The pharmacy/inventory assistant plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of a pharmacy by managing inventory, restocking medications, and maintaining accurate records. They assist in organizing pharmaceutical products, support senior pharmacist with daily tasks, and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards to provide excellent patient care. The work day is Monday through Thursday 9am – 5pm Friday 7:30am – 5pm. We are seeking a candidate with prior experience in a pharmacy setting, including handling medications and ensuring accurate preparation, dispensing, and inventory management.

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Pharmacy/Inventory Assistant to join our veterinary clinic team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately dispensing medications, managing inventory, and providing exceptional customer service to our clients. You will work closely with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and other staff members to ensure the smooth operation of the pharmacy.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a pharmacy or inventory management role is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Passion for animal welfare.

Duties/Tasks

Pharmacy

  • Accurately dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
  • Maintain inventory records and ensure proper storage of medications.
  • Prepare and label medications according to pharmacy protocols.
  • Assist with ordering and receiving medications.
  • Provide information to clients on proper medication administration and answer any questions they may have.

Customer Service

  • Educate clients on the importance of medication adherence.
  • Provide clear and concise information on medication side effects and drug interactions.
  • Answer client inquiries in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Assist with setting up and modifying appointments.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain a clean and organized pharmacy environment.
  • Assist with inventory management and reconciliation.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of medications, including controlled substances.
  • Assist with recycling materials.

Safety Management

  • Follow OSHA regulations and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Familiarize yourself with zoonotic diseases and take necessary precautions.

Professional Management

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding clients and patients.
  • Participate in staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Adhere to clinic policies and procedures.

Office Management

  • Complete necessary paperwork and data entry.
  • Participate in administrative procedures.
  • Complete necessary training and continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain accurate personal time records.

Salary

$19 – $22 per hour
