Position Overview
We are looking for a Hearing Instrument Lab Technician to provide support services and assist Audiologists in the delivery of services to our patients consistent with company policy. This position is an essential part of the practice and helps to ensure our day-to-day patient services. The person that will best succeed in this role will be tech savvy, detailed-oriented, computer-centric and possess well-developed patient relations skills.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for in-house hearing aid cleanings
- Assist with inventory and supply control/management
- Clean all equipment and work station at end of each work day
- Assist with Bluetooth connectivity/troubleshooting of hearing aids
- Contact patients to schedule fits, manage repairs, etc.
- Opening/closing lab duties: Clean lab tools at the start and end of each day.
- Check in/out new devices and loaner devices.
- Prep hearing devices for initial fittings.
- Prep purchase agreements, insurance waivers, loaner agreements, etc.
- Ensure that patient education materials are stocked and displayed
- Carry out office administrative duties as assigned
- Participate in continuing education events, and other training programs to enhance knowledge and ability to perform job responsibilities
- Assist with processing/shipping repairs and new orders
- Work directly with hearing aid manufacturers
- Adhere to goals and policies established by the company
- Work under the direction of the Managing Audiologist
Patient Care
- Greets patients and visitors with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
- Schedules appointments and follow-ups using our Electronic Medical Records system.
- Manages incoming calls, questions and emails and directs them to the appropriate staff members, as needed.
- Optimizes patient satisfaction and Doctor’s time.
- Assists in preparing for patient appointments.
- Communicates to potential patients the benefits of the hearing practice.
- Handles first counters to competitive comments and claims by potential patients.
- Handles payments.
- Ensures a high-level of patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA and PHI laws and regulations.
- Keeps the front office and waiting area clean and organized.
- Qualified to handle difficult situations with patients, visitors or vendors with a calm demeanor.
Required Education and Experience
- At least 1-year of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, specially with front desk responsibilities in a customer service oriented environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office)
