Job Summary
Oregon State University – Cascades (OSU-Cascades) is seeking a full-time Academic Advisor. This is a full-time 12-month professional faculty position.
The Academic Advising Team is part of the Academic Affairs Division at OSU-Cascades. Academic Advisors provide direct academic advising to students at OSU-Cascades, including monitoring students’ progress towards a degree and maintaining appropriate program records, supporting students in creating academic plans related to individual academic and future goals. The Academic Advisor will assume primary responsibility for advising undergraduate students in undergraduate programs at OSU-Cascades branch campus. The Academic Advisor reports to the OSU-Cascades Director of Academic Advising. This position will work to uphold the mission and vision of OSU-Cascades and the mission and vision OSU Academic Advisors.

Oregon State has a statewide presence with campuses in Corvallis and Bend, the OSU Portland Center and the Hatfield Marine Science Center on the Pacific Coast in Newport.

What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s degree required from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 1 year total experience in academic mentoring, admissions counseling, academic support programs, resident life or a combination of those areas with another student contact area.
- Competency and/or experience working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Outstanding demonstrated oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others, including an ability to work with a variety of audiences (e.g. students, staff, faculty and administrators).
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally in front of small and large groups and to provide workshops, trainings and outreach programs.
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks and responsibilities and prioritize appropriately.
- Strong and positive experience in attention to details and meeting deadlines.
- Demonstrated computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Demonstrated experience providing support and guidance to students from a variety of cultural backgrounds and educational experiences.
- Incumbents are required to self-report convictions
What we would like you to have
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in College Administration, Adult education. Advising or related academic field.
- Two or more years of full-time employment as a professional academic advisor or student support professional in a college or university setting.
- Experience in effectively creating communication strategy to inform students of important information and details.
- Professional experience assisting diverse learners, including non-traditional, online, and international students.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current practices and theories in academic advising and student development, including proactive advising strategies.
