ROLE OF DEPARTMENT
- The overarching purpose of COICs transportation program is to strengthen regional transportation services and infrastructure through the development and implementation of regionally-based transportation plans, administration and operations, service coordination, and project development. A regional approach to transportation enhances efficiencies among transportation organizations and ensures regional connectivity for Central Oregon’s residents, businesses, and visitors.
JOB PURPOSE
- The primary responsibility of the Station Attendant is operating the ticket counter and providing information at the Hawthorne Station. The information being provided will be for transportation services around Central Oregon with CET as well as other parts of the United States through the Greyhound service. The Station Attendant will be selling bus passes for CET as well as bus tickets for Greyhound and other intercity transportation providers; Greyhound also provides freight services that will require the Station Attendant to process incoming and outgoing freight.
The Station is open seven (7) days a week to meet the needs of the community. The Station Attendant must be courteous and professional and be able to represent COIC in a manner that will promote and maintain the positive reputation of the organization. Must be able to handle challenging situations with difficult individuals in a public location and treat lobby patrons with respect and understanding. This position requires a high level of customer service skills that will enhance our customers’ experience and exceed customer expectations. The Station Attendant is responsible to process, track and properly dispose the Lost and Found items. Maintain a clean environment throughout the day within the Hawthorne Station. The Station Attendant will also do additional tasks as assigned by the Supervisor. Regular attendance with minimal unplanned absences is essential for this position. In addition, this position requires the ability to work independently and within a team environment that requires a keen attention to detail.

FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide information on Cascade East Transit services, Greyhound and regional intercity transportation providers in person and over phone. Keep the rider pamphlet area stocked;
- Sell Cascades East Transit bus passes by operating the COIC point of sale system;
- Supply and send Bend Dial-A-Ride applications;
- Sell Greyhound and other intercity transportation tickets through the on-line or other assigned ticketing system, and process incoming and outgoing freight. At times will coordinate with Greyhound drivers pertaining to any route additions, transfers, or late buses. Reconciliation of Greyhound sales with Greyhound reports will be done daily;
- May assist with daily counting of fare box revenue;
- Responsible for monthly inventory of CET bus passes and ridership products;
- Responsible for filling CET bus pass orders from the website, over the phone, faxed and CERC orders. Create invoices and mail bus passes;
- Count cash register drawer and prepare deposit information daily;
- Monitor the behavior of the lobby patrons. Request disruptive patrons to follow the conduct rules posted in the Hawthorne Station. Direct disruptive individuals to leave the premises if necessary. Notify security, supervisor or police when assistance is required;
- Spot clean lobby, Station, and bathroom areas as needed;
- Follow the Hawthorne Cleaning Procedures for any bodily fluids, or bio-hazards that need to be cleaned;
- Notify supervisor of any damage or maintenance issues at the Hawthorne Station property that needs repair;
- Responsible for storing, tracking and properly disposing of Lost and Found items in accordance with the Lost and Found Procedure;
- Assists in other special projects and duties as assigned.

- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to private vehicle or equivalent means of transportation;
- Ability to rapidly acquire a working knowledge of the computer systems, including but not limited to Excel, Word, Greyhound or other assigned on-line ticketing system, CET point of sale system, and email;
- Ability to pay attention to detail while making minimal errors;
- Must have good problem solving and analytical skills to gather and interpret data;
- Ability to complete multiple tasks with efficiency in a courteous and responsible manner, occasionally under highly stressful and/or time- sensitive conditions;

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED
- EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
High School Diploma or GED, plus two (2) years of similar work experience that clearly demonstrates ability to rapidly learn and perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Mobility to work in a typical office setting, use standard office equipment; some walking, standing, stooping, occasional lifting up to 25 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone. Accommodation may be made for some of these physical demands for otherwise qualified individuals who require and request such accommodation.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Service Counter ? Occasional travel to other COIC locations and to job trainings.
